In just his very first game, he seemed like a pro, knocking down 16 points and shooting over 50%.
By the end of the series, he was shooting more often and sunk 19 points, also over 50% shooting.
With over 40 more games to go, it is frightening to see what Fields might become.
Although thin, Fields has shown that he can mix it with the best of the under-23 business, and is not frightened of going to the top stage.
"Yeah, of course I thought about, who in this league hasn't?"
"It would be great to be drafted, but it's up to me to work my way up there. If that means years, so be it."
"I would love the opportunity to go straight into the ANBL. I do know that I have some skills that need to be worked on, but I'm prepared to make the jump, even if playing time is minimum."
Fields is unfazed by the pressure and hype surrounding him after being the first pick.
"Nah, it doesn't bother me. Everyone here has pressure on them as well. I'm just another one of those guys."
